Open Question: If my Xbox 360 breaks will Microsoft replace it with the newest version?
I have had an Xbox 360 break and they replaced it with a new one and then that one broke and they just fixed it. But if this one breaks again and they cant fix it will they replace it with the newest version with the HDMI output? because mine doesn't have HDMI but at the time that i bought it, it was the best and most expensive version.

Open Question: How can I repair my Xbox 360?
I have a premium 360 console that has basically lived through death and died again. I believe it's a 2005 model and it was already broken once then fixed below Microsoft's warranty...then it pretty much broke again (yes...Microsoft sucks that much -_-). I already bought a new one but the broken 360 is just collecting dust and I figure it would be interesting to repair it myself, plus I'd have another Xbox to screw around with. Any ideas or info as to how to repair a 360 and what materials I would need? I already searched google but it's more or less like talking to a receptionist in an office... Already have a PS3 and a Wii... The warranty is up....it's from 2005, the max warranty for a 360 of that year would've ended already. It has the red rings

Resolved Question: What should I do if my Xbox 360 is scratching my games?
My warranty for my xbox 360 is over and I have already had it fixed for the RROD, but since it has been "fixed" my games have been freezing up or saying disc is unreadable. What I notice when this occurs is that the system starts to make an almost grinding sound and then the mistake message occurs, or it just freezes. I looked at the discs that have been freezing and look many scratches every over them but I take good care of them putting them in their case every time. Xbox customer support has been little help and I don't think I should pay microsoft $90 to receive it fixed when its not a guarantee that it would not break again. Any other suggestions?

Resolved Question: Big Xbox 360 problems, please help?
I ordered an refurbished ( broken then "fixed") xbox 360 pro 20gb. When it got here it was broken. I plugged everything in but when i tried to turn on the xbox the power bricks LED light went from orange to red. The xbox did nothing, it didn't start flashing the red rings of death lights at every. The light on the brick just went red. I looked at a bunch of sights to look what could be wrong, some said that the voltage could be wrong and to plug it into a socket thats in the wall. I tried plugging it into every wall socket in the home and it didn't work. It said that it might have over heated and to let it chilly. It NEVER turned on so it couldn't have over heated but just in case i let it chilly by a fan for a while and it still didn't work. I wanted to return it to amazon but i heard a ton of bad things about it and that they don't really refund your money and just give you a bunch of lies if you call so i don't want to return it anymore. What should i do? Is it just the power brick thats broken or could it be the whole system? doesn't Microsoft test to make sure their working first? Have any of you had to return anything to amazon? if you were me what would you do. hatchet- xbox 360 has both a 20gb pro and a 60gb pro, the 20 was more in my price range so i got it instead of the 60

Open Question: xbox 360 question elite blinking red. All four.?
My pal broke his xbox 360 elite, the black one. It's blinking red every four and it's hookup to a sdtv. My question is, is his system dead or dying? No visual output. Cables appear fine. Over a yr. old according to him used only 2-3 hrs a day max to prevent overheating. Lost the receipt. Now I'm staying clear from the360 due to every it's issues but in a separate, but related question, how do stores deal with 360 returns? If it goes way way down, I mean next to nothing I'll receive one because I have not meet a single person in real life or online that did not go through more than 1 or 2 360s due to malfunction problems. I figure, one day enough people will be mad enough @microsoft for creating needy vents on the bottom where heat cannot escape and what not to steer the price even lower. I'll wait till the day the 360 gets a super massive price clip and receive one for the hell of it. And when it does die just let it go because I know the lifespan isn't good. So, say I go to best buy or something bought one and it's DOA out of the box. (I've heard this had happen numerous times) Can I receive a full refund, or is there some nice of return policy to screw the customer over? thanks. I'll check if it's av cables. What lights mean "gone for good"? I thought it would be four. How do you check if it's on sd or hd? I don't have the console to examine it.

Open Question: I need some Advice (Xbox Problems)?
Sorry for the wall of text guys. About 3 months ago my Xbox was infected by the red rings. I called up Microsoft asking for a repair, but the unhappy thing is my warranty had run out by only days. I purchased my 360 on the 21st sept 2007. They sent me the box, it included a bill of 400 euros if i can remember. Now i refuse to pay microsoft that money, i may aswell just buy a new one. So i thought, i have nothing to lose, so i broke the seal, cleaned the CPU and GPU with white spirit, then added new heat sink compound and closed it up safely, i turn the xbox on, but still have the red rings. Okay, so today i walked into a local game store, regarding the repair of my 360 Elite, they said to call up microsoft, i said i did and the warranty is out, he says no the RRoD has a 3 year warranty. Wait, what? I was unaware and never told by the Microsoft employee. So now the seals broken, and i find out i still had warranty. I need some advice about what the next step should be.

Voting Question: How long for your xbox to come back?
I think my xbox 360 might be defective. It works perfectly fine except it wont hold the time and date i set. It always restarts at 11/25/05. Does this mean my xbox was made then? If so doesnt that mean i got one of the crappy ones. Well i didnt think that was possible because i have the arcade and i thought they just started making those, anyway the bigger problem is that it freezes randomly during games. Its wierd because 3 of my brand new games freeze, fable 2, gta 4, nfs pro road, but call of duty five will not freeze. Trust me its not a coincidence. I can play call of duty for 6 hours at a time and not receive one freeze. If it is broken/defective, would walmart refund me for a new one? If not how long will it be before i receive it back if i send it to microsoft? Thanks

Resolved Question: Should I get an Xbox 360 or not?
I really want one, but I'm nice of tight on money. every my friends have one and I really want to play Gears and Halo with them. There's like 8 games I want to buy. The thing is, I don't want to pay 300 bucks for a console KNOWING that it's going to break. I don't want to go through the hassle of sending it back and forth to receive it fixed. Microsoft still hasn't fixed their mistaked yet. They're probably making a new generation Xbox since the 360 is pretty old now and I could just wait a little longer and receive the new one and still have backwards capabilities to play every the 360 games I want. * And don't tell me to receive a PS3 because it's a piece of crap and it has no games that appeal to me. Yeah you got it when it first launched and 3 months ago it broke- look this is what I'm talking about. Why would I buy something expensive knowing it's going to break? That would be stupid. It's just that there's so many games I want..

Resolved Question: Why does my 360 do this?
In November 2006 I brought an Xbox360 for the first time, it was a Premium version...Back in June this year it finally packed up with the RROD, I've voided the warranty by getting it privately fixed...the guy managed to give it about a weeks worth of extra play before it broke again....So I went out and brought a cheap Arcade Version I've had it since June the (Arcade 360) I put my harddrive on it, my Xbox live wireless adapter and it worked fine up until A month ago when it stopped reading discs...this time I played by the book. I sent it off to XBL support and within A week and 2 days it was back, the letter said they'd replaced the Disc steer and Motherboard, now less than 2 weeks back the games freeze. It's rare, I played GTAIV for about 4 hours 2 days ago and only done it once which was at the end of those 4 hours when I turned it off...Yesterday I was playing Oblivion and it didn't happen then playing today it did...it's not a frequent problem...it's only happened twice in a space of 2 weeks but still it shouldn't be doing this.... It's kept chilly, none of the fans are blocked and it's in a conservatory which is freezing, I can't even play without wearing a coat in that thing but anyway it doesn't overheat and it's fresh back from repair....is this just a tiny glitch? or has Microsoft (as they usually do) ripped me (a customer) off again?

Resolved Question: Towel trick repaired xbox 360 and selling to gamestop?
My xbox got the RRoD, so I sent it to microsoft, but they sent it back unrepaired saying it had been tampered with(possible I suppose I bought it off ebay). Resolved Question: I originally purchased my XBOX 360 at Circuit City 3 years ago and it recently broke...?
Now, my xbox 360 is out of warranty. So, would I be able to buy an XBOX 360 at, say, Coscto and then put in my old XBOX 360 and return it to receive my money back? That way, I would return my old XBOX 360 and receive a new one for "free". If not Costco, then what would be the best store? I know there are people out there who feel that this is dishonest, but arrive on. I bought my XBOX 360 three years ago fair and square and it broke down last year. After Microsoft "fixed" it, it worked for about a year. Now that it is out of warranty, it finally decides to break down again. Microsoft really needs to fix these issues, so blame them not me...

Resolved Question: What should i do about my xbox 360? i have e74...?
So about a month or so ago, my 360 randomly gets this e74, didn't do anything differently, it just broke. Anyways i call microsoft and not to my suprise my warranty is up! o great, so i COULD send it in for 90 dollars for a garunteed fix but i was thinking of doing other things, you guys tell me what i should do. a) attempt to fix it myself since the warranty is already void... b) return it to walmart and receive a new one, but i think that would go against my morals, but still an option. c) sell it for what $20? and then buy a new one on ebay, hopefully receive a steal for around 120 which would be about the same as sending it in d) anything else? o and i got another, somehow make it receive the 3 RED RINGS OF DEATH! lol cuse i heard u can return them for free

Resolved Question: Xbox 360 DOES damage discs!?
So I have owned both a ps3 and an xbox 360 for over a year, and to be honest, I always gave my xbox 360 more attention, despite having a good ammount of hardware "issues" with it. I dont like to consider myself a fanboy, but i always remembered ps3 fanboys talking about how Xbox 360s damaged discs, and I was always sure this was just a myth. So about a month ago, I put my Gears Of War 2 disc in, and I heard some very odd noises coming from my steer. I also got a lovely mistake message explaining that my xbox couldnt play the disc. I took out the disc, only to look some nice new deep round scratches in it! After playing (and accidently damaging) a few games with no success, I have concluded that I am sick of spending money on this thing, and it shall now be used as a nice, big paperweight. I have now realized Microsoft lacks the ability to design a system that wont break. I have seriously spent hundreds of dollars getting my xbox fixed now. This has made me realize how nice my ps3 performs every day.sick never take you for granted again ps3! My question is, has anyone else had it up to here with their Xbox 360, or any piece of gaming equipment for that matter?

Resolved Question: Should I buy another xbox 360 now? or wait for next generation?
So, decision time. My second 360 broke a few weeks ago with the unplayable disc mistake. Tried sending it in but microsoft wouldn't fix it. PS, i already possess a wii Here are my options: A: Buy a new Arcade version for 199.00 (already have HD) B: Buy a new Pro or Elite for 299-399 (Don't want to spend this much) C: Wait for next gen to arrive out 10 points for best answer

Voting Question: Should I RROD my Xbox360?
My 360 has been broken for about 3 months with the "Unplayable Disc" mistake. I sent it into Microsoft with $99 hoping they could fix it but they sent it back after 3 weeks and they didn't fix it. The note said that it did not fall below the category that was needed to fix it. Lately, I have used the thick piece of paper trick and it worked for about 2 months. It finally stopped working and the "Unplayable Disc" mistake is still happening. I tried to fix it on my possess by taking apart my 360 and in the process, taking my warranty sticker off. The warranty expired 2 years ago so i didn't think it mattered. So, I'm stuck with a broken 360. If a force the RROD with towels, will Xbox repair or give me a new 360 even though the waranty sticker has been removed and been put back on. Any suggestions? Anyone else had this problem? please help. Big points for answers

I rented 'Fable 2' a few days ago, played it for about an hour and then heard a horrible grinding sound, so I immediately close off my xbox 360. So I took back Fable 2 and then rented another game... It did the same thing (I played it for thirty minutes, (didn't make that sound this time, though) and a little box popped up and said to take the disc out and clean it. Help please! My xbox 360 is just permanently broken, right? Can I send it in to Microsoft (for the second time) for this type of thing??

Resolved Question: Is it acceptable that i have had 3 xbox 360 consoles break(RRoD) since it was released? ?
Since the release of xbox 360 i have owned 3 separate consoles. they have every broken on me due to the RROD (Red ring of death) which, technically speaking, is a hardware failure. every my consoles have been well ventilated and well treated. I currently have one of my xboxs at microsoft being repaired but decided to receive a new one as (apparently) they have been upgraded to prevent RRoD and overheating etc, however i have already had 3 freezes in the 2 days i have owned my "upgraded" console. also let me know if you have had 360 problems :} I just don't understand how any company can receive away with such a lame product! i wish someone would sue them stoopid lol. I will deffinately not be getting any microsoft consoles in the future. I might actually trade every my 360 stuff including consoles to gamestop for a ps3. from what i can tell they are pretty solid. will be a shame to lose xboxlive but wahts the point when everything breaks every 5 mins!?

Resolved Question: Xbox 360s breaking...?
What the hell do people do to their console to break it so much? I've had my 360 for years and carried it back and forth from home to home many times. I wouldn't say i've been exactly careful with it, but it's not even close to breaking. People always say 360s break easily but I just don't receive how they break because of microsoft if people are careful with them.

Resolved Question: Should I get a new Xbox 360 ?
Alright. I had a xbox 360 since February of 2007. My xbox gave me the red ring of death a year later. I sent it back to Microsoft to fix it, and I got it back and it worked fine. It recently broke again. i;m not sure this time about sending it to Microsoft again because they break so often. About ten of my friends have a 360 and about 5 of theirs have broke. Should i receive a new 360 and receive suckered out of my money knowing it could break again or send it to Microsoft. Or should i just receive something new?
